The best events happen during ‘leap year’ – The UK & Ireland Youth Assembly hosted a Valentine’s evening to be remembered!
The event attracted Zimbabweans from across the UK including leaders from the Provincial Executive and all 5 districts represented.
Guests heard from a different array of eloquent speakers who included the SW District Chair, Leader Matewu and Youth Assembly Chair, Paul Chipamhadze who spoke about the YA strategy to support initiatives in Zimbabwe including the Binga floods recovery.
It was also a delight hearing about the YA passion and commitment and standing in solidarity with the National YA to fight for change in Zimbabwe.
There was great food; music and great dancing, conversations and raffle draws that saw winners give back to the event in order to raise money for causes back home.
The caterers ‘Indulge with Melanie’ did not disappoint, the food was great and accompanied by scrumptious delicious deserts. Added to this was the Celebrity style welcome reception with a professional photographer capturing the moment. There was glamour, glitter and well-dressed black tie guests. I hope guests were able to snap up their photos as a ‘memento’ of the evening.
Well done to the MC for the evening Leader Vincent, SW Communications Secretary who led the fund-raising for the evening rallying all present to donate through fun and engaging activities.
Finally, a big well done to the MDC UK & Ireland Youth Assembly for organising and hosting a truly successful event with the proceeds from the evening going towards initiatives in Zimbabwe.
